About the movie "An Inconvenient Truth"

“An Inconvenient Truth” is a fact-filled show about global warming and solutions for it. It was presented by former Vice President of the United States Al Gore in the year 2006. The movie is filled with information that Al Gore collected as he traveled to different parts of the world in order to educate the public about the consequences of this climate crisis. This idea came to him after the death of his sister and the bad experience of his son who was almost killed in a car accident.

According to Al Gore who backs up his view with fact, greenhouse gases must be reduced sharply in the near future. If not, the whole world might face worse consequences. For example, his examination of Antarctica's yearly temperature and amount of carbon dioxide in the last 650000 years showed that it is possible for a major ice sheet in Greenland to melt. If that happen, the sea level would increase by about 6 meters causing flooded cities. That in turn would result in more than 80 million refugees. Plus salinity, which is the amount of salt per cubic meter plays a major role in changing the climate.Water around Greenland has lower salinity than European water. If mixed together, the overall temperature of Europe would change.

However, Gore suggested some good solutions. One is to plant more vegetation through which we can reduce the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Second is to co-operate with all countries to solve this problem. Each country should solve minor problem related to it.

To sum up, Al Gore believe that all countries must co-operate to solve this issue because it is not one country’s problem. It is everybody’s problem because all of us live on this planet. We should take action in no time if we wanted to protect our loved ones.

An Inconvenient Truth- Evaluation

From my point of view this documented “An Inconvenient Truth” is filled with facts and I enjoyed watching it. It showed me information that I did not know before like the amount of carbon dioxide from 650000 years ago.I have to say that Al Gore was amazing in this documentary with excellent presentation skills. He made it easy for us to understand important facts about our planet. In other words, he made the truth easy to believe since he showed some nice graphs, pictures and video clips. However, he suggested a limited number of solutions. Plus he did not mention recycling as a solution, he was drinking coke which is not environmentally friendly.
Gore presented the information in the movie from a scientific point of view. That means none of the information is science fiction. That is why we should know that the time is not on our side and should take in consideration how to start solving our planet’s problem.

Critical thinking summary.

Critical thinking is a way of evaluating and analyzing problems to reach a conclusion which is the solution. This kind of thinking is used by any person who has responsibilities like parents, lawyers, doctors or even pupils. Each one of those has problems which need to be solved effectively using critical thinking. When faced with a problem, a critical thinker should listen cautiously to the information given, analyze them, be curious and look for any missing evidence in order to come up with solution. To do so is essential to improve our social life, communication skills and other aspects of life. To become a critical thinker you should be able to share ideas and develop a sense of curiosity.
The pyramid called Bloom’s Taxonomy shows the six levels of thinking. The critical thinking levels are simple at the bottom and gets more complex as you go upwards. Starting from the bottom, knowledge is only remembering the information of a topic. Second is comprehension which is understanding the topic. Third is application which is paraphrasing. Fourth is analysis where you break down the information. Then comes synthesis which is redesigning. Finally you draw conclusions and this is evaluation.

Hello, my name is Omar Ali Al-Junaibi. I was born in Abu-Dhabi in 1986. I have two brothers and I’m the youngest. Going through my memories as a child, I used to love playing hide & seek before entering primary school. To be honest, like all other children I didn’t like it at all. However, I was able to get good grades ever since I entered that school. After year 9, I went to study in a secondary school in Al-Ain, where I spent three years.

Each one of us has his or her hobbies. Swimming is my best hobby since you can exercise all your body's muscles at the same time. Plus, riding horses because I believe that this sport teaches a person patience which is a very useful thing.

After I finished my secondary school I went to Australia to complete my studies.
It was a good experience, which I gained from visiting different cities there. I lived in Perth which is located in Western Australia for about 3 months. It is a quiet and beautiful city with wonderful beaches.
After that, I went to visit Brisbane in Queensland in the far east coast of the continent where I spent the same time there. It is famous of the Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef. Brisbane is a city filled with life.
Then, I went to Sydney where I spent almost 2 years there. While living there I felt the stress of the business while I am in my apartment!
However, I liked it the most because I made many friends there. I had friends from different nationalities because Australia is a multicural country, but the majority of my friends were from my home country.

I happened not to complete my studies in The University Of New South Wales in Sydney because of some problems which I can not explain here, but when I returned to Abu-Dhabi I put all my efforts in getting as high grades as possible so that I can go back to complete my studies, hopefully in the same university. Apart from my trip in Australia, I have visited many other places like Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

The person who influenced my life the most was His Highnes Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan, he was a man filled with confidence and responsibilty. He dedicated his life for his nation and its citizens. I in the future would like to do the same for my country and be more of a responsible man.
